The FDA has taken steps to limit the amount of inorganic arsenic in infant rice cereal and advises parents to feed infants a variety of iron-fortified cereals. Rice cereal fortified with iron is a good source of nutrients for your baby, but it shouldn’t be the only source, and does not need to be the first source. Other fortified infant cereals include oat, barley and multigrain. The agency’s actions are driven by our duty to protect public health, and our careful analysis of data and emerging science.
