In a perfect world, you would have access to the best foods and treatments all the time. Yet, as we all know, the real world constantly challenges our good intentions. Next time you’re in one of these problematic situations, stop to consider: What Would Oz Do?

The Situation:
Your new pair of shoes has given you a painful blister.

What Would Oz Do? Sterilize a needle and lance the blister. Make sure that the area is clean, and aim your needle for a spot near the edge. Let fluid drain and make sure to leave the skin in place. Afterward, apply antibiotic ointment and cover with a bandage. For more about how to properly lance a blister, click here

The Situation:
You have a terrible headache and do not have access to a pain reliever.

What Would Oz Do? Drink a large glass of water. Headaches are often caused by dehydration. Water will help reduce muscular tension and rehydrate your cells. Click here to learn more about the different causes and types of headaches.

The Situation:
You have a terrible toothache and cannot get a dentist appointment right away.

What Would Oz Do? Dip a cotton swab into baking soda dissolved in warm water. Baking soda works to neutralize the acids that cause tooth pain.

The Situation:
You are starving and your only source of food is a vending machine.

What Would Oz Do? Buy the trail mix. It’s high in protein and will satisfy immediate hunger. You will also get the added benefits omega-3s and fiber from almonds, sunflower seeds, peanuts and raisins. Be aware of the proper serving size; often, 1 pouch can contain 2-3 servings.
