Hi, I’m Terri and my husband of almost 20 years is Ed. We live in Long Island, NY and I am a stay at home mom to our beautiful kids; our daughter is 5 and our son is 3. Both my husband and I struggled with our weight growing up, and when you marry someone who loves to eat as much as you, it is a recipe for 2 very large people.

 

We were trying for years to start our family and although we yo-yo dieted, we never really changed our lifestyle. After being blessed with 2 two children we knew we needed to make a permanent change to our weight in order be healthy parents for many years to come.

 

We decided to embark upon an overhaul in our eating and lifestyle. When you have your first child at almost 40 and start doing the math as to how old you will be when they graduate college, get married etc. it makes you think about how you may not be there if you don’t take action and start changing.

 

We joined a gym and we each made time to go at least 3 times a week. We cleared out the cupboards and started making healthier food choices eating regular and maintaining portion control.

 

We have each lost over 100 pounds and I have now been within the same 10 pounds for a year and a half. Ed is maintaining his goal of 180lbs. We both go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and have made this our lifestyle. It is not a diet. We make better choices and hit the gym.

 

If you are struggling with your weight, we urge you to incorporate your partner. It will make the journey that much easier when you are working towards a common goal. Even if they don’t need to lose weight, everyone can benefit from eating healthy and exercising.

 

We urge you to just take the first step with or without your partner. Once they see results, they will be sure to hop on board. We are excited to blog and hope to touch anyone out there who has struggled with being overweight – and those deciding to change their life to one of health and wellbeing.
