I truly believe for my own weight loss journey I had to wake myself up. I was in denial of who I had become. There was an incredible disconnect between who I thought I was, who I really was, and who I was projecting myself to be.
I had to be true to myself and acknowledge, as painful as it was, that I seriously needed to reassess how I was living. I was scared to death, but I woke myself up. I said enough is enough. I was ready for change! Finally at age 44, I was ready. Once I really became more conscious of the old heavy body I had, I knew I had a huge task ahead of me to become healthy. I was determined, I was focused, and I took control.
I invested in myself. I began to love myself again. I decided not to supersize— but to exercise. I took this task seriously, not just for my health, but for a commitment to myself. I wanted to feel better in my body and my clothes. I had to confront the reasons why I had become steadily heavier with age. That took a lot of work, but I was up for the challenge!
I worked out both at the gym and in my head. I worked hard every single day for almost 2 years. I am still working out, but now I love it. It's a joy to move and feel so good in my body. Now I challenge myself in other ways; with balance, agility, and endurance!
I have had the most amazing discovery of courage, strength and love of self during this journey.
I am happy. I am strong. I am healthy. I am on fire!
