I'm happy to report that my neighbor Brian is shrinking! Brian was originally 424 pounds, and now after just a short time he is 385 pounds! I have written 2 blogs about Brian and I working on his weight-loss goals together. I have helped him learn how to cook healthier and portion out his food using the principals from You: On a Diet. We have been cooking my recipes primarily and filling in the gaps with some content from You: On a Diet.
In just a very short time I have helped him change his behavior with food and fitness! I've even gotten him to join a gym! It's incredible that in just a few short months of us working together, he went from having to use the electric wheelchair cart to shop with me to walking 40 minutes on a treadmill! Amazing!
I firmly believe that Brian will succeed at his goals to not only lose the weight but to continue on his path of wellness. He's got health on his radar! And with me living across the street helping him with the food and fitness, I can help him stay accountable! Brian's doctor said, "Whatever you are doing with Bonnie, keep doing it! It’s working!" His cholesterol is down, his blood pressure is better and his overall stamina is so much better. Right now, I'm just so proud that he took control and joined my gym! He's on a mission and I'm right there behind him every step of the way! I see my old self in Brian. I see a man who is eager to live differently. And he is focused and on a war-path to wellness.
He has completely changed his behavior around food! I have helped him learn about healthier food choices, healthier snacks and he's not even missing soda or pizza! It's unbelievable! I'm so proud. He's like a mini-me! Brian uses me as to validate his hard work. He'll call me from work and say, "I didn't have fast food today; I had a salad!" He recently had to go in to the hospital for cellulitis on his legs. It turned out that Brian had a blood infection due to the cellulitus. While he was at the hospital he didn't even eat the low-calorie pudding or diet drinks. I told him they were full of chemicals and he needs to eat whole foods! I love that he called to say he would rather me bring him some fresh fruit than eat the low-calorie chocolate pudding. Fantastic! I'm so proud of him! Now that I'm a trainer, I cannot wait to get him working out more than just the treadmill! We make a great team!
