On Your “Weigh”

How many times have you said "Oh, I'll just start eating better on Monday." And then Monday rolls around and folks invite you out to have drinks after work, and the next thing you know there are buffalo wings and fried onions on the table. Sound familiar? We have all been there when it comes to mindless grazing! It's easy to get caught up into all that.

You're having fun with friends, you tell yourself, "Oh, I should have something to eat to go with my beer before I drive home." You convince yourself that it's ok to have a burger and an hour later, you are bloated and rolling into bed after just consuming upwards of 2000 calories and 2 hips worth of fat in less than 2 hours. This is part of how America's waistline has gotten so supersized!

I know; I lived like that most of my life. My wallet was shrinking and my waist size was expanding. There's no way to change all your behavior about food and your social lifestyle overnight. But I can tell you based on my experience the sooner you get a grasp on how you are living and who and what you are surrounding yourself, the faster you will get healthier.

I personally had to stop seeing some of my friends and carve out a few new ones in order to reach my weight loss goals. I had to consciously decide that I just simply had to refocus my life and be a bit selfish in order to stay on track. I knew that I was not quite strong enough in the beginning to go out and not eat fatty foods. Some friendships suffered and fell by the wayside. But my health was at stake. I finally put myself first instead of the appetizer.

When are you going to be on your way to the new healthier you? Today? Tomorrow? Never? Start right now! Arm yourself with the best tool for building the better you.  YOU: On a Diet by Dr. Roizen and Dr. Oz really will arm you with the knowledge, recipes and the understanding of how you can change your behavior and your health. It's how I live. It's the guidebook for living well.
