Another Year of Resolutions

Happy New Year! Well, have you written down or told someone your New Year’s resolution for 2010?! I know I have, and I was relieved that my only one wasn’t to start a diet and lose weight! That has been my resolution for pretty much all of my life and I knew this year would be different. While one of my resolutions was definitely to continue my weight loss, I changed my wording. Mine this year is to remain healthy and make healthy choices. Take an hour a day for myself for my mental health and that encompasses my daily exercise. I have also committed to myself that I would make small changes to make my eating a little better at each meal.

So I am asking you! Don’t make the same resolutions as years in the past or more importantly, don’t let 2010 pass you by and another resolution not met. So I encourage you to make small healthy changes everyday. It could be as simple as swapping out 2 sodas for 16 ounces of water. Small changes lead to great rewards!

I know with this thought in my head over the holidays I was able to enjoy myself without over indulging. I ate what I wanted, but I would cut things in half and cut my portions down tremendously. You get the same satisfaction out of 3 M&M’s as you do the entire bag! Why waste the calories? I know that over the holidays my mom made these amazing eggnog waffles…my mouth still waters for them as I write this. I had 1 waffle and chewed for 30 seconds and enjoyed every bite and felt full and drank water with my breakfast. I was able to enjoy Christmas morning breakfast with my family without the guilt.

So I challenge you to start making small changes today, remember the rewards are amazing!
