The other morning after my workout on my way home, I passed a park where lots of people run and walk in the morning. Now that the weather is warming up, a lot more people are getting out exercising. As weird as it sounds, it brings a huge smile on my face!

One gentleman in particular the other day caught my attention, so much so that I actually pulled over and watched him walk/run for a while. A flood of emotions came over me as I sat there and watched him work out. He was a rather large man and had to be in his late 40’s early 50’s. But then my heart sank. I realized that he was struggling. He looked like every bone in his body was hurting. It took me back to a place where I use to be, and sometimes still go to when I am just not having a good work out. It reminded me about my rollercoaster ride with weight loss. It was all I could do not to jump out of the car and yell for him – Go! You can do it! Keep going!

This is what I get to experience every morning during my workout regimen and the reason I never miss a workout unless the circumstances are out of my control. I just wanted him to know that I have been where he was, both mentally and physically, and that he should not stop. Pain is temporary – it’s weakness leaving the body and the way you feel afterward is unbelievable! The way you feel when you go down a size or someone notices that you have lost weight is priceless.

My point is this; find a buddy! Use your buddy! They are invaluable. During my journey I have had lots of buddies and find new ones along the way. This is what keeps me going and keeps me motivated. Toni and Stacy are invaluable to me and we have gone through a life-changing journey together. These are 2 buddies who mean so much to me. My family, work, friends, and people I inspire along the way are all buddies to me. They keep me going and keep me focused. They are the reason I will finally overcome a life-long battle with food.

I encourage you to find a buddy and make them part of your weight-loss journey, workout and new mental attitude, for this is what keeps you going during the good, the bad and the ugly!
