When I think back to 4 years ago, I remember what it felt like to be an unhappy, overweight, over-medicated mom and waitress. Then, I think about how today I am a happy, physically fit, healthy, medication-free mom and fitness instructor. Even though I’m still a waitress, I put every ounce of effort into teaching at two different gyms. I work hard to know my choreography like the back of my hand so I can give the ultimate class. I challenge people in my classes so they can build their strength and endurance, and become who they want to be. I add my own personality, my own spice of life, to everything I do now and to my surprise, it’s paying off big time. Even though I don’t make a lot of money at the gyms, I put every ounce of my energy and time into teaching these classes, trusting that this will lead me to my dream job.
I’ve learned a lot on my weight loss journey, but one of the biggest things I’ve learned is to be myself, to not let society or the judges and critics in life create who I am. I create who I am. I’m making healthier choices, choosing better relationships (friends and family included), giving my body the exercise it craves and pushing through my fears one after the other!
You always have a choice in life. There are always two paths you can take. If you take the wrong one, you can guarantee the universe will give you the signs you need to get back on the right path. I had many signs that I was on the wrong path and I finally chose to take some action. I turned my life around and it feels so good. As my life continues to change and I become more of who I really am, there’s no doubt in my mind that something bigger and better is on its way to me.
Are you adding any spice to your life? If your answer is no, get off that couch and make life happen for you. Choose healthier foods, take walks, surround yourself with positive people and create yourself. Why wouldn’t you?
I’m absolutely blown away by how my life has changed. It all started with Dr. Oz and following his plan. There is no one who is more grateful for Dr. Oz than me. Because of him, I am still creating and changing my life for the better. I add the spice of life to everything I do and it feels so good to be me!
