I just became one of Dr. Oz's Wellness Warriors and I am dedicated to helping YOU! I'd like to start by saying that each week I will give you a personal Tip/Assignment of the Week. These are things that have helped me to lose and maintain my weight.

I'm 41 years old and my RealAge Test revealed that I am 34 – woo hoo! Feeling this good rocks! So that being said, my first Assignment of the Week is to clean out your cupboards and refrigerator. Then, stock up on foods that will help you with your weight loss goals!

Get rid of anything that contains the following:

  • Simple sugars
  • Enriched flour
  • bleached flour
  • Refined flour
  • HFCS (high-fructose corn syrup)

Buy plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, along with low sodium soups (400mg's or less),veggie burgers, a sugar substitute and lose the table salt completely! Buy whole grain breads and rice, steel cut oatmeal, chicken or fish (grilled or baked, never fried) and the key here is to be prepared. Cut up your veggies in advance, make a big pot of steel cut oats to get you through the week; you won’t have any excuses not to eat right when you automate your meals and plan ahead.

By emptying your fridge and cupboards, you won't be tempted to eat things that are bad for you – and since you'll have fresh fruits and veggies on hand, you'll always have a quick snack right at your finger tips! Being prepared is huge!

Also I want everyone to make sure you are walking a minimum of 30 minutes everyday – no excuses! Put yourself first; I promise it'll be worth it!
