My 2 Week Promise to You!

If you can commit to giving me just 2 weeks, I can change your life. I promise! When I first went on Dr. Oz’s healthy eating plan, I may have been feeling satisfied, but I missed my usual foods and found it hard at times to stomach some of the healthy stuff. Dr. Oz states in his book if you give it a try for just 2 weeks, you can change your taste buds and wow, was he right. I also use the 2 weeks rule in other areas of my life, which I will explain at the end of this blog.

Here are some examples of what the old me would eat/do compared to what the new me does:

Old Me:

Started my day with coffee with cream and 2 heaping tablespoons of sugar and scrambled eggs with cheese and toast for breakfast.

My snacks were a piece of cake, cookies, potato chips, anything sweet or salty.

My lunch was lots of leftovers, a quick, unhealthy frozen meal or whatever the kids were having.

My dinners included lots of beef, unhealthy carbs and high fat cheeses.

Being a Mom, I also ate many grilled cheese sandwiches and lots of mac and cheese.

Ice cream was an after-dinner snack.

New Me:

Now I start my day with 1 cup of coffee with skim milk and sometimes a pack of artificial sweetener or two and steel cut oatmeal with fresh fruit and cinnamon for breakfast. (Click here for my apple pie oatmeal recipe.)

Snacks are fresh fruits and veggies, or maybe a healthy granola bar.

For lunch, I have a Boca burger on a whole grain wrap, loaded with fresh veggies, a side salad or a cup of low-sodium soup.

My Dinners are chicken, fish, whole grain pastas, roasted veggies, and salads. (I have lots of good dinner recipes in prior blogs.)

No after-dinner snacks anymore!

I also gave up salt and sugar, and I was a true addict to both. These are just some of the changes I made. At first, all my new healthy choices did not taste so good, but I got a hold of my willpower and remembered the 2 week rule to change a habit. Sure enough, after 2 weeks my taste buds changed completely! I enjoy all the healthy choices I make now. I never add salt or sugar to anything and it’s still to this day amazing to me!

I now try to implement the 2 week rule in other areas of my life – relationships, different kinds of exercise or exercise classes, any kind of new experience! If something isn’t working and I’m not getting the results I want, I make a change and give it 2 weeks. And guess what, 2 weeks is all it takes to break any habit! If I can do it, you can too!

Whatever it is that you want, and I mean anything, find your will power, make a change, and give it 2 weeks. You owe that to yourself! Give me 2 weeks and I promise you a new you!
