This week I would like to give you advice on eating out and also talk a bit about my personal life and my struggle as an actress, or should I say, a waitress! I have been a waitress for 24 years, almost 25 years. I’m not trying to toot my own horn here, but I’m very good at it. However, it is very hard for me to hold this kind of a job on many levels because of who I now am.
I serve pretty much all junk food to people all the time. There are a few healthy souls I meet every now and then, but for the most part, people order and eat junk. I cringe inside and actually worry about some of these people, but I put on that smile. I wear it well and give a great performance as I watch and serve the public their very unhealthy choices!
Some of you may remember when I appeared on The Dr. Oz Show, some of my advice was to make sure that when you go out to eat, to order a to-go box right away. That way, when your meal arrives, you can put half of it away immediately! Portion control is so important.
Also when you order salad, please order that dressing on the side or just ask for red wine vinegar. Always ask if they will grill your chicken for your salad, because even though the menu may offers fried chicken, 9 times out of 10 you can get it grilled!
There are ways to eat healthy when you go out, don’t be afraid to ask your server what they recommend for a healthy choice. Any good server should be able to help you make that healthy choice! So there’s no excuse to eat unhealthy!
I waited on a lady who told me she just recently had heart surgery and she was on a special diet. I helped her out with healthy suggestions and she was so thankful. Then I told her I was one of Dr. Oz’s Wellness Warriors and her eyes lit right up. It was a nice experience, but unfortunately many customers won’t even ask for the healthy options!
I honestly do not like being a waitress. Plain and simple: I do it for the money. Like I said, I’m good at it, but I believe in my heart that something bigger and better lies ahead for me! There’s a fire in my soul that’s burning bigger and brighter than ever. My passion lies in helping you, my fans and friends, become the happiest, healthiest people that you that you can be. And of course, my other passion is teaching my kick boxing and weight lifting classes at the gym where once again, I’m helping others with their fitness.
Finally I would like to say that even though I struggle inside as an “actress,” I still put all my extra time and energy into blogging for Dr. Oz and training at the gym. My point of this is that you should never give up on your passion because you never know which one of your dreams may come true, even if you are currently struggling continue to follow your passion!
