The Power of Giving and What I’ve Learned

I’ve come a long way, baby, but I also put in lots of hard work and 100% dedication into becoming who I want to be. Four years ago, if you told me I’d be up on a stage in front of 20-80 people at a time teaching kick boxing and weight lifting classes, I would have said, “No way!” Once again, I have to give a big thank you to Dr. Oz for helping me get fit and healthy, which has lead me to my true passion of teaching these classes at the gym.

In winter of 2009, I went away to be trained to be a kick instructor. Little did I know how many mountains and obstacles I would face; changes of gyms and friends, some people telling me to keep giving it my all, some even telling me to give up. I continued to be 100% dedicated, giving countless practice classes for free, always volunteering when I had the chance, and giving it my all.

What I feel when I teach a class is pure bliss, pure happiness. It’s like I own the stage! The truth is that being able to give back to people some of what I have been given is the ultimate feeling for me. I love knowing that I gave them my best to deliver a fun, entertaining and awesome workout!

On top of that, I get to blog here on Dr. Oz’s website as one of his Wellness Warriors. Sometimes when some of you write to me, it actually brings me to tears because I know how you are feeling and all I want to do is help you all to my best ability! Believe in yourselves, give it 100% dedication and you can accomplish what I have!

Just today, I’ve earned myself a couple new classes at the gym of my choice along with a free membership. They are paying me to do what I love. However, it has nothing to do with money. What matters is that all my hard work is finally paying off. What I’ve learned is that the answer to my biggest question is “Yes, Jennifer there is a Santa Claus!” He may not land on my roof, slide down my chimney and deliver me gifts, but he lives in my heart and has given me the power to give back to all of you in many ways that I love and never thought possible! I’m living the dream and it keeps getting better. I am so truly thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving all! I’m running the Turkey Day Race of almost 5 miles with a team of 3; my Wellness Warrior team. As I promised, we will cross the finish line together and I’m so excited for it! What happened to all you “maybe” runners? There’s still time to join me if you want. Click here to learn more about the jog!
