‘Twas the night before Christmas and you’ve had enough! So many of you do so much during the holiday season, and sometimes it’s too much. I’m a big believer in giving as much as you can to pay it forward! Sometimes, however, the word “no” can be more powerful than you can even imagine! Learning to say no isn’t easy, and it took me a long time to learn it. When you learn to say no to someone or something, you’re putting yourself first and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, you should always put yourself first.
Saying no to something may give you the time you need to squeeze in your exercise routine, take a hot bubble bath and relax, meditate, spend more time on a project you’ve been pushing aside, take a night to go out dancing, play fetch with your dog, take a walk, have a healthy relaxing meal with your friends or family. You can do whatever you want to do with that free time you just gave yourself by saying no to someone or something else.
It’s true that people will always judge you, but what you need to know is that that’s OK, as long as you believe in yourself! Follow your own dreams, don’t take things personally especially after you’ve said that forbidden word; no!
The truth is if you give to yourself first you will truly find the time to give more to others and pay it forward. Plus, you’ll feel great, because you learned how to say no and take the time to give to yourself!
‘Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a mouse!
My house was decorated with a festive air
Because the word “no” has taken me there.
All of the sudden there arose such a clatter
It was just me following my dreams
And that’s all that matters!
