Those of you who follow my blogs may know that I often used the dieting excuse, “Oh I fell off the wagon again!” I always told myself that I would start over next Monday. Wow, was I wrong! This kept me overweight and miserable for years.
I now weigh 130 pounds and I feel fantastic. Guess what though – last Saturday night my best friend from Florida was here for a visit and I fell off the wagon. I had some nachos and some other junk food late at night. But the next morning I hopped right back on the wagon. I ran my 5 miles, ate my steel cut oats and didn’t even gain a pound! This is why other diets don’t work and Dr. Oz’s plan does.
No one is perfect and it’s OK to make mistakes, forgive yourself, and then remember that today is the first day of your future. It does not matter what happened yesterday or what will happen tomorrow. Focus on the now and take the steps and action you need to get you to where you want to be now.
Never beat yourself up over a mistake. We all make them and we learn from them. One of the biggest things I’ve learned through my mistakes of unhealthy eating is that nothing tastes as good as looking good feels. I guess that’s why when I do make a mistake, I’m quick to hop right back on that wagon, because the way I feel rocks – not only do I want to keep that feeling going, I want more of it!
I am here for a reason and that reason is to help you become better, both inside and out. I want you to feel the sunshine like I do every day of my life, no matter what life throws at me.
Today is the first day of your future. Do you want to hop back on that wagon after a mistake or throw it all away and give in to misery? There’s always a way and you always have a choice. Now is the time to make life what you want it to be!
