Have you ever found yourself looking only at the calories ON the box and not really caring what’s actually IN the box? As a society, we’ve become obsessed with how many calories we’re taking in, but rarely do we question the quality of those calories.
We consume pounds and pounds of those “100-calorie” snacks that translate to pounds and pounds of empty calories – which by the way, means extra pounds on you, too! When we eat these highly processed, low-fiber foods, we never feel satisfaction. This means that we’re hungry all the time and searching for the next snack – eventually we end up overeating on something that has way more than 100 calories.
Start today on getting “bang for your nutritional buck.” Choose foods that are high in nutrients, yet low in calories (like carrots). You’ll notice that you no longer need to count calories, and in the process, you’ll lose weight and decrease your risk for diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain cancers. Wouldn’t that taste better than a 100-calorie snack?
