One thing that I have learned is accountability. Accountability is defined as an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility, or to account for one’s actions. Meal planning makes you accountable for your actions. I plan my meals for the week and post them on my refrigerator. If I plan ahead, then I won’t go off program.
I sit down on a Thursday and plan my meals for the upcoming week. Then I head off to the food store on Friday. I always make a double batch of my dinner entree so that I have enough for another meal.
This was my meal plan for this week:
Breakfast was either oatmeal or egg whites.
Lunch was either grilled turkey or chicken on whole grain bread.
Dinner Entrees: Sunday and Saturday: whole wheat stuffed pizza.
Monday and Thursday: Mediterranean chicken with white beans.
Tuesday and Friday: grilled tilapia.
I like to keep it simple. Simple works for me! All of the above recipes can be found in the You:On a Diet book. Having your week planned out makes life easy and also keeps you on program.
I want to share a quick story with you. My daughter’s bridal shower was on Sunday, February 28th at a tea house. It was high tea so there was salad, quiche, tea sandwiches and lots of sweets. I ate my salad and quiche and called it a day. I had my snack with me, my trusty cheerio mix (1/2 cup cheerios and 1/4 cup almonds and raisins). I looked at the shortbread cookies, brownies and scones and asked myself, is it worth it? I knew in my heart that I didn’t need those sweets to make my day fulfilled. I felt so good when I left tea because for the first time I had said NO to temptation.
My journey is going very well. Please join me and walk with me. As of today I have lost 7.5 inches off my waist and 15 pounds. Life just doesn’t get any better than this. Next week’s goal is to start going to the gym.
