Clothes Shopping: Nightmare or Fun?

In the past, when the season changed and I had to go clothes shopping, I would literally go into a panic. I had to take off my jacket or sweater and expose my body to others?! I would go shopping in the “special store” and always picked out clothes that were baggy and dark in color. I would take in several sizes hoping that I would be able to buy a size smaller than last year. When I tried on something and it didn’t fit, tears followed. I would sit in the dressing room and verbally beat myself up. I would then end up either buying a few items that were very baggy on me or not purchase anything and vow that I wouldn’t buy anything new until I lost weight. Then the season would then go by and I didn’t lose the weight.

When I tried on something and it didn’t fit, tears followed. I would sit in the dressing room and verbally beat myself up. Then the season would then go by and I didn’t lose the weight.

Since I started my journey to wellness, I have become a bit of a clothes addict. I have accepted who I am now and when I look into the mirror I am no longer unhappy. I have learned to love myself. When I went shopping this past week, to my surprise, I was able to purchase clothes that were a size smaller than usual! I was so excited that I treated myself to some beautiful, colorful items. No more dark colors for me. I bought bright colors and I am enjoying not having to wear a sweater or jacket. This is a first for me in a long time; I had always hid behind a cover-up of some sort. No more of that!

Please love who you are today. Clothes shopping can be fun. Buy some brightly colored clothes and it will make you smile. Don’t hide behind those sweaters, jackets or cover-ups. Love yourself because you are special.
