Lifestyle Change Is Not a Race!

Has anyone noticed that no matter what show or a commercial on TV you might be watching, we have been bombarded with people touting their weight-loss books and programs? Some of them state that their diet program will allow you to lose weight quickly if you eat this or if you don’t eat that. These programs and books have come out of the woodwork since January. I am not saying that these diet programs are not good programs, but the words “diet” and “quick” really bother me. If you look deeply into some of these diet programs, some will offer you “quick” weight loss the first week or 30 days. Ok, and then what?

Has anyone noticed that no matter what show or a commercial on TV you might be watching, we have been bombarded with people touting their weight-loss books and programs? Some of them state that their diet program will allow you to lose weight quickly if you eat this or if you don’t eat that. These programs and books have come out of the woodwork since January. I am not saying that these diet programs are not good programs, but the words “diet” and “quick” really bother me. If you look deeply into some of these diet programs, some will offer you “quick” weight loss the first week or 30 days. Ok, and then what?

The reality is that you have to implement a “lifestyle change.” You have to commit to changing your eating habits and feeding your body with healthy foods forever – not just for a week or 30 days. When you realize that you have to make a lifestyle change, it is not going to happen in a day! It is a commitment to put healthy foods into your body every day.

It’s not a race to lose the most weight as quickly as possible, but if you change your food choices and add exercise to your day, then the weight will come off. You may not have a “quick” weight loss but what you will gain is an awareness to what your body needs to work efficiently.

Below are some foods that will make your body happy:

  • Fresh veggies and fruits
  • Grilled or broiled chicken/turkey/fish
  • Whole grain breads and cereal

Make that lifestyle change and don’t worry about the race. Your body will love you for it!

Food Menu:

Monday and Friday: Whole grain pizza topped with sautéed veggies and fat-free mozzarella cheese

Tuesday and Thursday: Turkey chili with white beans over brown rice

Wednesday and Saturday: Grilled chicken with salsa and grilled asparagus

Sunday: Whole grain pasta with chicken meatballs
