I am now celebrating the 3 year anniversary of changing my life and creating a new and better life for not only myself, but for my children and husband.
After 20 years of yo-yo dieting, I finally figured out how to put the pieces of the puzzle together. And the pieces are staying in place, like I have glued them in and framed them. Remember how we did that when we were young to a puzzle that we were so proud of completing? This time, I will not let the pieces fall off 1 by 1, only to end up once again incomplete.
I remember at the beginning of my journey, at 377 pounds, I felt beat down with life. Everything was a struggle because of my size, and because of those struggles, I felt like I wasn’t good enough, and my spark for life had been snuffed out. It is hard to be that low and figure out where to even begin – how to climb out of that black hole that I created for myself. But I started 1 little step at a time. I remember only being able to get on the elliptical for 3 minutes on level 3. But with each week, those 3 minutes turned into 10, then 20, until I was able to go an hour or more on level 17. I figured out how to eat clean and healthy food while still enjoying foods that I loved. I learned how to prepare my foods each week to make sure that I was going to eat exactly what I should.
But during this 3 year journey, I also found out that there would be weeks where I didn’t lose a single pound. I hit a plateau, or I gained 5 mysterious pounds. But with those bumps in the road also came the realization that I had determination and perseverance. I knew that I was in it for the long haul this time. I found that what would make me a success is that I knew that I could get right back in the game and would ultimately see results.
I guess the reason I wrote this blog is that I want to get across that no matter where you are or how much you need to lose, it can be done. If you don’t know where to start, educate yourself, go to the bookstore and take lots of notes. Give Dr. Oz’s book at look-see, it’s a fantastic tool to help you as well. Find a trainer, my trainer Matt has been golden for me. Find what is going to work for you and stick to it. Do it the healthy way, and know that there is no quick fix for anything. If you fall 1 day, know that you can get back up the next and start again. If you gain a pound 1 week, know that you can take it off the next. Don’t make excuses to just eat anything and everything you can think of. This is what will make you a success!
I am blessed for all the support that I have had and I plan on paying it forward to anyone who needs the help! It can be done! You are worth it and YOU create your destiny and ignite that fire within! Love to all.
