From The Enforcer

December 16, 2009 Fantastic Steve: no longer the unhealthiest…not the healthiest yet, but he has made the commitment! It’s the second day of Breathing Free for Steve. Rather than just emailing the big fella, I called him at about noon. Cravings for those dirty, rotten, and addictive rolled things normally begin about now. And days 3 to 5 are the toughest…Steve made it tougher on himself by not starting the buproprion 3 days ago the way we suggested. He read about it and got scared…but today he started to take it along with a nicotine patch. He is remembering to take the old patch off when he puts the new one on – I had forgotten to remind one patient of that and he came to me after about 45 days asking when he could take any of the 45 patches on off.

I have often thought you had to stop smoking first and then go after losing weight, controlling blood pressure or controlling blood sugar. But Steve, like DJ Nuff – another of the Land of Oz enforcer candidates – neither have needed knees knocked out to avoid the ice box trip. (Ya hear Sydney – if they can do it, you can…and your knee caps are at risk) and have quit smoking at the same time.

Just talked to Steve this evening – he is doing well now on the Breathe Free protocol. I think it is fair to say he cannot believe how easy it is. That is the response of the majority of the over 800 people I’ve personally helped Breathe Free. Want to try to get unhooked? Just log onto RealAge.com or email me at YOUDocs2@gmail.com and we’ll write back this weekend.

Where was I today…up at Cleveland Clinic Canada (in Toronto) and visited Canada (CTV) AM’s Bev and Seamus to talk about YOU: Having a Baby.  One segment ran today, and 5 will highlight the importance of being a fathead, the man’s role in pregnancy. Being a great dad starts with being a great dad to be. We also discussed why eating for 2 is a myth, why you should choose your baby’s name early, what drug to avoid and which to definitely take to have a smarter baby. These will air in January. Also talked with Howard and a beautiful lady (can’t remember her name – NANCY is the only name I can remember when I am away from home) on the great morning EZ Rock radio show

If you’re from Canada (where the The Dr. Oz Show is #1 in daytime) email us at Youdocs2@gmail.com. Rich, Mehmet, and I love to see hockey lovers in the audience, so sign up for tickets.

Hope to see you at studio 6A soon. Remember to say hello. And it really is okay to ask Rich Burns (the warm-up guy) to tell airplane and marriage joke. But remember he’s married (so is Mehmet.)

P.S. But Steve isn’t.
