I am currently sitting in the waiting room as I am undergoing a 3 hour glucose tolerance test. I am unable to go anywhere or do anything. I have to be in a restful state. So, I am thinking. I am sitting here reflecting on so many things; my baby, future, pregnancy and life.
I loved Dr. Oz's show on Monday as he encouraged America to participate in his “Move It to Lose it Challenge!” Sharecare.com has been a wealth of knowledge for me during my pregnancy and I'm excited about the resources it will provide for health and weight loss! I love recipes and I think the meal plans based on what you are looking for in a food plan are awesome! Do I feel like a little vegetarian? Traditional foods? I know... I'm going straight to Dr. Oz's recommended food menus first!
This pregnancy has humbled me, as I have been bombarded daily with food aversions and cravings. The things that have kept me slim and trim are some of the very food items that have had me running to the porcelain chair! I can't wait until these weird food challenges are behind me. In fact, as I am in my last 7 weeks of pregnancy, I look forward to starting my own move it to lose it plan to jump start my weight loss after I deliver!
I gained slightly over 30 pounds with Benaiah, and so far this pregnancy I have gained about 15 pounds. I anticipate to have gained a little over 20 pounds by the time I deliver, and know for certain I will be left to lose that last terrible 10 that I will have to melt off on my own! It is always those last nagging 5-10 pounds that are the hardest!
One of the most invigorating things about being a mother for me has been my fitness level. After losing 220 pounds, there is not much that I feel I cannot do. Playing and running around with my son have been part of my daily activities. Lightsaber battles, Buzz Lightyear space adventures and playing chase have been on my weekly regimes. These things would not have been physically possible had I not lost the weight. Taking charge of my health has defined motherhood for me. I am engaged, involved and active! I look forward to challenging my body again to be the fittest, fastest, and strongest that it can be!
As we all are excited about a new year of starting fresh and taking charge, I encourage you all to take this challenge to jump start a life long adventure towards health and strength and vitality! As all the parties die down, ignite the flame that is within your soul that celebrates you and your health! You can do anything for 11 weeks, right? Take this challenge and soar. I'll be on your coattails; only 7 weeks behind!
