I am so excited and proud of Amy and her renewed health. Every day that passes, she is learning more about herself and her body. No one, other than God, knows what makes us tick better than ourselves. We know why we want to eat a bag of potato chips when we are sad or a frosted donut when we want to celebrate. Really digging deep and finding out WHY we do the things we do helps us to be successful in overcoming our struggles and addictions.
Amy and I have formed quite a friendship. We have built a foundation of honesty and trust and open communication. Sometimes just having someone to use as a springboard when we are struggling is important. It is not part of human nature to discuss our weaknesses and let others know when we are struggling. Yet, being vulnerable is a HUGE step toward healing and victory.
Amy is finding a new confidence in herself and worth every day. She sees that she is not just GOING to do it. She IS DOING IT! She talks about the things she is conquering and equally shares in the areas that she is still struggling in. Someone I didn’t even know 11 short weeks ago, I know in a very special way today. I am proud to call her my friend. I am not just her coach.
We were just talking last night saying that a few short weeks ago she was nearly 50 pounds heavier and dreaming about her goals for the future. What a turnaround she has made from dreaming about things to LIVING them out! I still am in shock of her drive and motivation in completing her first 5k! I was beyond thrilled to cross the finish line with her, by her side! Amy is constantly making goals and meeting them, even surpassing them!
I am excited to see where and what she will be cooking up for herself in the coming weeks! She keeps even me on my toes. I think I’ve met my match!
You too can ignite the fire inside and keep your flame blazing. The goals that I’m sure you thought about and even set for yourself for this New Year CAN become a reality. Have faith in yourself. Amy and I are just like you…people that have struggles, stress, failures and addictions. BUT, you can overcome them! Don’t lose sight of what your goals are. Stay focused, intentional and positive! If Amy and I can do it, so can you! I can’t wait for you all to see Amy on her next update. She is working SMART (as Dr. Oz says) and there is NO stopping her! Stay tuned!
