My body has been going through so many changes. I am experiencing pregnancy very differently than I did 2 years ago with Benaiah. Back then, I walked every day of my pregnancy; 7 days a week, rain or shine! Saturday, August 16th was my due date. My husband and I woke up and walked 3 miles into the center of town to a local farmer's market where we shopped for delicious produce. Then, we walked a little farther to get some coffee and turned around after our morning of fun to walk all the way home. Not even walking over 6 miles threw me into labor.
Although I am not experiencing early labor with this pregnancy, walking more than 5 minutes briskly has brought on a horrible side stitch. Unfortunately, this sharp pain has kept my walking to a minimum. Now that I am in the "honeymoon" phase of pregnancy, the strange pain has subsided.
Today was my day off from work, and my sister, all the boys and I walked into town for some shopping! What an encouraging release and it was to work up a little sweat again! We hit a couple of our favorite spots and I went to one of my very favorite local stores that sells spices. I stocked up like a squirrel getting ready for winter. The great thing about this spice store is that her blends do not contain all of the crazy additives that most prepackaged varieties do – only pure and flavorful spices. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the apple pie spice and turkey rub were at the top of my list.
We had a ball today enjoying the crisp air. I noticed my mood was elevated. Sweating, walking and breathing the fresh air were very therapeutic. There are so many benefits to getting our much-needed activity in during the day. Today officially marked the first time during this pregnancy that my body allowing me to walk without pain. It was just what the doctor ordered!
