Defeat Does Not Live Here

Have you ever stopped to think about what prevents you from reaching your goals? Why is it that you can't make it to the gym, find time to exercise or set the alarm clock earlier so that you can begin your day by exercising? The sad reality is that we are the ones to blame for not achieving these goals. It seems harsh, but sadly it is true.

I have often said I am not a morning person and therefore cannot and will not wake up early. I didn't want to mess up my hair with sweat by working out. If it was too hot or too cold, I was definitely not going to be outside walking - there was no way I was going to suffer a heat stroke or catch a cold from being out in the winter.

I set goals and never reached them at one point I may have blamed "El Nino" or the planets' alignment or someone setting out to sabotage me. Losing weight was like being on the scariest roller coaster and I was tired of getting on that ride, so it was easier to just give up and settle. As you can see, I was the queen of excuses and self defeat! As I look back, I realize now that I had no one or nothing to blame other than myself. At the end of the day, it was nothing but excuses. It was easier for me to do nothing and be disgusted over it then it was to put in the sweat and hard work.

Now I love to be in the gym and keep it moving! Although I often complain and give my trainer grief, I look forward to my training sessions. I look forward to knocking out the daily 10,000 steps and trying new aerobic classes.

How did I flip the switch? As I said on our second show, I had to get my head in the game. I had to let go of the negativity and release every and any excuse that was looming around in this head of mine. I came to realize that I was sabotaging myself and it was time for some serious changes. It was time to take on a new lifestyle, and one in which I placed myself as priority and took care of me first. It took baby steps but after a while a routine was set and I knew I was doing what was right for me and my family. The rest is history!

If you find that you too are the queen/ king of excuses, make the declaration right now that today is the day. Declare that defeat no longer lives here and put one foot in front of the other. YOU can do it - I am proof that it can be done.
