It’s So Much More Than the Steps!

It still surprises me to hear people say they have spent endless hours in the gym and have ran or walked a certain amount of miles only to reward themselves with a triple-decker sundae. I often sit back and just say, “Really?!” After all that hard work in the gym and all that sweat you exerted – you really want to waste that on food?

It still surprises me to hear people say they have spent endless hours in the gym and have ran or walked a certain amount of miles only to reward themselves with a triple-decker sundae. I often sit back and just say, “Really?!” After all that hard work in the gym and all that sweat you exerted – you really want to waste that on food?

What I have learned on my journey is that proper nutrition (lean meats, fruits, veggies, and whole grains,) a willing mind and exercise combined is what brings about results. Results will not come about and stay for the long run without all these components working together. Think about it like this – if you are just working out to be able to eat that calorie-enriched, cholesterol-drenched, heart attack waiting-to-happen meal, what are you really accomplishing? All you are doing is allowing yourself to remain in Dieter’s Gone Wrong Alley.

While I do agree that a treat every now and then is important, it is just as important to find balance and healthy alternatives. What I have come to learn is that exercising is just 20% of the weight loss battle, 80% of this battle is proper nutrition and a willing mind. Put these all together and you have success!

Each day when I wake up, I make sure I know my purpose for the day. When it comes to this weight loss journey, each step has a meaning and a purpose. Each step taken is a step closer to my goals and a step closer to being a healthier me. Each food choice I make has a purpose as well – it nourishes me and also works towards my overall purpose of achieving health and wellness. Each blog I write is also with a purpose – to let readers know that there is no secret to losing weight, but that you can achieve your weight loss goals.

Remember it’s more that just making the steps. Include proper nutrition, a willing mind and those 10,000 steps and you will have success!
