Not Just “I”

Are you the person who believes, “I can do this on my own? I can take the information and run with it! I’ve got this covered!” I, I, I, I…So many times we believe that we are capable of doing things on our own, and that we are our own support. Like the song says, “We’ve come this far by faith leaning on the Lord.”

I do believe that if I don’t believe in myself, that no one else will. But what I have learned is that when it comes to weight loss, I can’t do this by myself. I recently had a coworker tell me that she was a part of the Million Pound Challenge. I think that it’s a wonderful concept. I asked her if she ever falls off plan, who is she accountable to? She said that the answer was no one, and that she actually messed up about a month ago and had never gotten back on plan.

As we continued our conversation, she asked me how I was able to stay on plan and be successful. I told her that it was the support that I got from The Dr. Oz Show; Dr. Roizen and my fellow housewives Brooke and Stacy. Being accountable to so many folks with daily steps and weekly weigh-ins and waist measurements helped me to stay the course. It was after the show that Stacy and I decided that we wanted to partner to help other folk the same way that we had been helped. We loved how Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen had coined themselves as YOU Docs and after talking to Dr. Roizen and receiving his blessing, we decided that we would be the YOU Gals, as we are following the principals of the book YOU: On a Diet. We wanted to help others on their journey to weight loss, not only as Wellness Warriors but as wellness coaches.

Stacy and I believe that it is necessary to pay forward what we were given, which is a chance to live a longer, more productive life. If you want to join in the fun, you should follow YOU Gals on facebook!

Below is our schedule:

Set Goals Sunday: Set a goal for the week ahead.

Move It Monday: Make sure that you are moving towards those 10,000 daily steps.

Taste It Tuesday: Try a new dish or recipe and share it with others.

What to Eat Wednesday: Plan meals for the rest of the week.

Twelve Thousand Thursday: Push past 10,000 steps and aim for 12,000.

Fitness Friday: Try a new workout routine.

Successful Saturday: Shout out your success so that we can all applaud YOU!

We believe that YOU can do this with the help of others. Remember no man is an island and YOU are worth it. At YOU Gals our mission is, “touching lives one waist at a time.” Join Stacy and I as we continue our journey to weight loss.

I’d love to hear from you so email me at toniwyoudocs@gmail.com. Happy Stepping!
