My #1 tried and true tip for health and weight loss is balance. So often, we either want to eat next to nothing or work out like a mad person when working towards living a healthy weight. What I have learned is that weight loss success is tied to finding a balance of fitness and food. These 2 principles must go hand-in-hand.
I have found that effective weight loss requires 10,000 steps daily. That means that you can run, walk, jog, dance, zumba, jazzercise, kick-box or whatever, but you need to be moving. The key is to keep it fun and attainable. If you don’t have rhythm— it doesn’t matter! You still should show up for that dance class and give it all you’ve got. It’s not about form or fashion. Weight loss is all about activity, so please get moving.
Food, boy do I love food, but my relationship with food has changed. I’ve decided to eat to live, not to live to eat. I still choose to enjoy what I’m eating. I’ve learned to try new fruits and veggies, to substitute ingredients in recipes with healthy alternatives, as well as to be creative in the kitchen. Don’t think of the foods you are eating as a diet foods, but instead view them as lifestyle choices. Lean cuts of meat, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains aren’t diet foods— they are every day foods and eating them will ensure a healthier life.
