Surgical Oncologist, Cancer Treatment Centers of America
Dr. Steven Standiford has over 25 years of experience in oncology and is currently the National Director of Surgical Oncology and Perioperatives Services at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). A native of Trenton, New Jersey, Dr. Standiford is a graduate of Wilkes College and New Jersey Medical School. He completed his general surgery residency at Temple University Hospital, and his fellowship in surgical oncology at New Jersey Medical School.
Dr. Standiford has held a number of prestigious positions during his career including Chair of the National Cancer Institute's Central Institutional Review Board, as well as Deputy Chief of Surgical Oncology, Chief of the Section of Breast Diseases, and Director of Outpatient Clinics at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center at the University of Missouri. He also has extensive teaching experience, including appointments at the University of Wisconsin, Temple University School of Medicine, and the University of Missouri.
Dr. Standiford has served on the boards of several professional organizations, including the Medical Advisory Board for the Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Breast Disease Committee for the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, and the Missouri Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
As a part of Dr. Standiford’s lifelong commitment to improving cancer treatment, he has participated in wide-ranging research, published in several textbooks and medical journals, including the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, the Journal of Surgical Oncology and Trauma Quarterly, and has been awarded grants to study breast and colon cancer. He has also been a critical leader in bringing top innovations to CTCA as he paved the way for the arrival of the Novac©7, a tool utilized for Intraoperative Radiation Therapy, and led the successful efforts for full accreditation of CTCA in Philadelphia from the National Accreditation for Breast Centers.
