In a week where the Emmy award-winning The Dr. Oz show hosted by Dr. Mehmet Oz, was once again front and center in the national discourse on health, the highly-anticipated appearance of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump delivered the series highest rating in two years, a 2.01 HH cume, its best since July 7, 2014.
In the episode that aired yesterday, The Dr. Oz Show presented an hour-long, one-on-one interview between Donald Trump and host, Dr. Mehmet Oz in which they discussed Mr. Trump’s personal health including a complete “Review of Systems,” as all patients do when visiting a doctor for the first time, his views on major health care issues and policy including their recently announced child care plan and the major health care issues facing this country. Mr. Trump shared with Dr. Oz the detailed results of his physical examination performed last week, as well as the results of other significant tests and evaluations performed previously by Dr. Harold Bornstein, M.D. of Lenox Hill Hospital, whom has been Mr. Trump’s personal physician for many years. Ivanka Trump then joined her father to speak further about the childcare and maternity leave initiative that the Trump campaign announced Tuesday night.
Thursday’s episode of The Dr. Oz Show delivered a 2.01 HH, the show’s highest cume rating since 7/7/14. The program delivered a 0.62 W25-54, its highest cume rating in the demo since 5/4/16. Filtering down to the primary telecasts only The Dr. Oz Show delivered a 1.85 HH, its highest primary rating since 3/3/14. Among W25-54, The Dr. Oz Show delivered a 0.53, matching it’s highest primary rating since 1/18/16.
Yesterday’s broadcast grows on average +43% over quarter-hour lead-in among HH and +29% among W25-54. Additionally, The Dr. Oz Show is up in 52 of its 55 metered market clearances among HH and in 20 of 25 markets among W25-54. It also delivered significant growth in several key markets including:
New York/WNYW-WWOR/1P – 1.55 HH, grows +94% from Wednesday’s show, and +115 among W25-54
LA/KTTV-KCOP/1P – 0.76 HH, up +111% from previous day
Chicago/ WFLD/WPWR/1P – 1.20 HH, increasing +161% from Wednesday’s telecast and +30% among W25-54
Philadelphia/ WTXF/1P- 1.45 HH, grows 93% over Wednesday’s show
San Francisco/ KTVU-KICU/1P – 0.63 HH, grows 26% over Wednesday’s show
Washington, DC/WDCA/1P – 0.57 HH, up 30% over Wednesday’s telecast
Boston/WFXT/2P – 1.44 HH, up 153% from previous day
Atlanta/WSB/3P – 3.26 HH, grows +76% from Wednesday’s telecast
Houston/KTXH/2P – 1.25 HH, increasing +62% from previous show
