Promotion Awarded After Three Highly Successful Seasons and Two Emmy Awards

(New York) - December 3, 2012 - Zoco Productions, a production company of Harpo Studios and Sony Pictures Television, today announced the elevation of Amy Chiaro to Executive Producer of “The Dr. Oz Show” after more than three seasons in her tenure as co-executive producer.  Chiaro will continue to serve alongside Mindy Borman, with whom she launched the show in 2009 to the highest ratings in seven years. “The Dr. Oz Show” remains the highest rated premiere of a daytime talk show since 2002 despite several competitive launches.

On Chiaro’s watch “The Dr. Oz Show” has produced close to 600 original episodes, earned two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Informative Talk Show and ranked consistently in the top four shows nationally among competitors.  As important as the traditional industry metrics, “The Dr. Oz Show” is considered the national conversation on health and commands an enormous social impact – from the retail influence that is well documented to the millions of viewers who participate in the wellness programs offered by the show throughout each season.

“Amy has been mission critical since the days before we had a show when we sat down with a blank slate,” said host Mehmet Oz, M.D.  “Through Amy’s creativity and keen sense of news we have served America with information they can use and action steps they can immediately deploy to live a healthier life, all with our unique entertaining twist.”

“The Dr. Oz Show simply would not be what is today without Amy Chiaro’s leadership and contributions that have made us a success as a talk show and the largest advocacy outlet for women’s health in broadcast television,” said Mindy Borman, founding Executive Producer.

Prior to “The Dr. Oz Show,” Chiaro served as a senior broadcast producer on NBC News’ top-rated national morning show, “Today,” responsible for the 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. ET hours. She simultaneously served as executive producer of “Today” Weekend Edition, where she oversaw all aspects of production for the number-one weekend morning show.

A 13-year NBC News veteran, Chiaro – who made TV Week’s Hot List of leaders under the age of 35 in 2009 – served in various positions for both “Today” and “Today” Weekend Edition.  Beginning at the NBC News Desk as a researcher, she rose through the ranks to domestic and foreign news editor, followed by senior editor. She then served in the NBC News Northeast Bureau as associate producer, covering breaking news for “Nightly News,” “Today and MSNBC.

A graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., Chiaro started her career working at numerous news and radio stations.
