- 8 cups water
- 2 cups split peas, rinsed and picked over
- 4 slices soy Canadian bacon, diced
- 1 medium chopped onion
- 1 diced carrot
- 1 chopped potato
- 1 chopped celery stalk
- 2 chopped or pressed garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients in soup pot, bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer gently for about 1 hour.
Add more water if neccesary, depending on desired thickness of soup.
