Moroccan Mint Tea

Brew up a pot of this mint tea recipe that Dr. Oz learned to make on a trip to Morocco. Green tea is known for its antioxidants and mint helps with digestion, so drink a cup of this refreshing tea after you eat a big meal. 

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp green tea leaves
  • 4 sprigs of mint
  • sugar, to taste

Directions

1. Start by boiling 2 cups of water (enough to fill the pot one-and-a-half times). 

 

2. Add the tea to the pot and pour in 1 cup of water.

 

3. Leave for 30 seconds and pour off the liquid into a glass and retain it (this cup of is the aroma of the tea and should be a golden color). Do not mix the tea at this stage. 

 

4. Now, add a second glass of water to the pot and mix the tea. 

 

5. Pour off the water and discard (this dirty water is the tannins and impurities from the tea). 

 

6. Put the first cup back into the pot and fill the pot with water. Now bring the tea to a boil and simmer for two minutes. 

 

7. Remove from the heat. Add the mint and sugar and leave for five minutes. 

 

8. Pour 1 cup of tea from a height and pour it back into the pot. Repeat this three times to mix the tea and ensure it all tastes the same. 

 

9. Serve and enjoy.
