Spinach Shake

For a great spinach smoothie, we found it best to start with a combination of milk and orange juice. The milk adds a rich, creamy texture while the orange juice adds a bright, sunny flavor and welcome kick of acidity. 


  • 3-4 cups orange juice
  • 1/4 cup 1% lowfat milk
  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 10 ice cubes
  • 1 sweet apple, peeled, cored and quartered
  • 1 banana, broken into chunks
  • 3 cups baby spinach
  • 1 pinch of salt


Add ingredients to blender in order as listed with liquids and ice on bottom.

Pulse blender to chop ice, 10 to 20 pulses.

Puree until mixture is very smooth and uniform, stopping to scrape down sides as needed, 1 to 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
