Dull, Dry Hair

Restore shine and softness to your hair with an almond oil hair wrap. Almond oil is rich in vitamin E and magnesium, which helps improve the texture of your hair. Distribute warm almond oil through your hair with a comb, covering everything from root to tip. When your hair is fully saturated, wrap it in a warm towel and leave covered for 30-60 minutes before washing as usual.

Inflammation

A poultice is an old-fashioned remedy that can help reduce joint inflammation. It combines pressure and baking soda, which can help draw out excess fluid. Combine 2 cups of baking soda and enough water to make a paste, wrap the mixture around the inflamed area with a piece of fabric andleave it in place for an hour. Do this daily for about three or four days.

Sore Throat

You can make a quick syrup for a sore throat or persistent cough with ingredients in your pantry. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of honey.

Uneven Skin

Hormones, acne scars and sun exposure can all cause uneven skin tone. Try clearing these imperfections with a gram flour facemask. Gram flour is made from ground chickpeas and is a popular treatment in Indian cultures. To make the face mask: Mix 2 tablespoons of gram flour, 1/4 tablespoon turmeric and 2 tablespoons of milk. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 20-30 minutes.

Toothache

If you are experiencing a toothache, try this popular home remedy to tide you over until you see your dentist: Put a whole clove in your mouth, moisten it and bite down once or twice. The essential oil that’s released has been show to have both analgesic and antibacterial properties, which can be particularly helpful in case bacteria instigated the toothache.

Back Pain

Try alleviating back pain with a peppermint-ice massage! Massages, peppermint oil menthol and ice are all proven pain relievers. Begin by freezing a mixture of a cup of water and two drops of peppermint oil in a paper cup. When the ice has hardened, remove the paper cup and have a friend massage the frozen mixture directly onto your back.

Chapped Lips

Don’t forget to exfoliate your lips! Mix 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of honey together in a bowl. Then, rub the mixture onto your lips with a toothbrush. The honey will moisturize your lips, the lemon will remove years of stains and the sugar will scrub away any dead skin.
