Wet Your Whistle Turkey Burgers

Enjoy your meat – but feel full with less of it – thanks to the fiber-filling and added water of the chia seeds and vegetables. You can substitute chicken with ground (minced) beef, turkey, or fish as desired.


Serves 4

1 lb ground turkey, minced

1/2 cup cooked brown rice or cooked quinoa 

1/2 cup grated carrot

1/2 cup grated zucchini                                                                               

2 tbsp finely chopped parsley

2-3 tsp black chia seeds

1 tsp sea salt, pepper (or to taste)

Olive or coconut oil (for cooking)

4 tbsp mustard

8 cups mixed lettuces, washed



In a large bowl, mix the chicken, rice, carrot, zucchini, chopped parsley and chia seeds together well, and then form 4 patties. Heat a large frying pan on medium to medium-high heat, add oil and cook patties for about 5 minutes on each side or until cooked through. Reduce heat if browning too quickly. You can also cook on a grill. Let cool. Add two cups lettuce to each bowl. Add one burger atop each bowl of lettuce. Place one tablespoon mustard on side of each bowl. Enjoy.
