Dr. Lemole's Longevity Recipes: Zoey’s Split Pea Soup

The Lemole Longevity Plan, created by Dr. Oz's father-in-law Dr. Gerry Lemole, was designed to help you fight off chronic disease. Dr. Lemole recommends a diet of whole grains, citrus fruits, and green vegetables. He warns against highly processed foods that are high in fat. The following recipes can give your lymphatic system a boost – and they're all named after each of Dr. Oz's children

Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 2 cups split peas, rinsed and picked over
  • 4 slices soy Canadian bacon, diced
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 1 diced carrot
  • 1 chopped potato
  • 1 chopped celery stalk
  • 2 chopped or pressed garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Combine all ingredients in soup pot, bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer gently for about 1 hour.

Add more water if neccesary, depending on desired thickness of soup.
