Steel-Cut Oatmeal with Apricots

Spice up your morning routine with nutmeg and apricots!

Steel-cut oats have been cut into small pieces that can be cooked in about 15 minutes. Their texture is more like rice than typical oatmeal.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup steel-cut oats
  • 1 1/2 cups liquid
  • 4-6 chopped apricots

Directions

Bring the liquid to a boil. Add the oats, boiling them for 5 minutes. Remove the heat, cover and allow to sit for about 10 minutes. If you are going to add a flavoring, stir in the oats just after they come off the heat, but before you cover them.

Add apricots and a pinch of nutmeg.
