- 10 pods okra, sliced in 1/4 inch pieces
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Ranch dressing on the side to be used as dipping sauce
- 2 tbsp of "base seasoning "
Base seasoning mix:
1 cup salt
1/4 cup ground black pepper
1/3 cup granulated garlic
1/5 cup paprika
In a small bowl, soak the okra in egg for 5 to 10 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine the cornmeal and base seasoning.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dredge the okra in the cornmeal mixture, coating evenly. Carefully place the okra in hot oil and stir continuously. Reduce the heat to medium once the okra begins to brown and cook until golden. Drain the excess oil on paper towels.
