You bones might seem like the most permanent part of your body, but they’re far from unchanging. Without being constantly rebuilt, your bones wouldn’t be able to adapt to the changing needs of the body and wouldn’t be able to repair themselves as easily when damaged. Your body is constantly breaking down and rebuilding bones to make them stronger. In a typical year, 10 percent of your bone mass is replaced. That means you have a completely new skeleton every 10 years!
