Make Sure Your Skincare and Makeup Are Appropriate for the Season
Skincare needs change as the weather changes. When it's hot outside, you should gravitate toward products that are geared toward oily skin, since you'll likely be sweating more. Conversely, the winter calls for products that are ultra-hydrating due to the dry weather and cold temperatures. Gray says that one of the best ways to keep your routine simple and effective is to know how to take care of your skin and know what makeup to purchase for each season. Gray says that switching to lighter products, especially foundation and moisturizer, is important in the warmer months so your face doesn't feel overloaded in the heat. She recommends using a more hydrating moisturizer and foundation in the winter so your skin stays nourished even when you're faced with the harsh temperatures.
Always Start With Thin Layers and Apply More as Needed
Did you know that you're probably using too much of certain products on a daily basis? Gray advises to start off with a very thin layer of foundation, concealer, or other face makeup. That way, you don't have excess product left on your hands or brush after application. If you feel like you need more coverage, you can always build on top of what you put on.
Gray says layering applies to your lips too. She recommends first lining your lips and then filling them in with lip liner before putting your lip color on. This layers will help give your lip color something to hold on to so it can last longer throughout the day and you don't have to keep reapplying.
If you find some of your many layers of mascara made their way onto your skin, Gray says to wait for it to dry and then remove it with a cotton swab for a neat-looking finish. If you try to remove it when it's wet, it'll just make more of a mess.
Give Your Skin Some TLC in Your Spare Time
Just like you need time to relax and rejuvenate, so does your skin. If you find that your skin looks dull or dehydrated, there are a few things you can do. Gray says that, even if you don't wear makeup on a daily basis, you still should do a deep cleanse at least once a week to get unwanted pollutants, excess oils, and other things off of your skin. You want to keep your skin as radiant and clean as possible, so dedicating a few minutes to really taking care of your skin each week can be extremely beneficial.
According to Gray, keeping your skin clean and hydrated, as well as maintaining a steady beauty routine, can help you look more radiant and youthful — and who doesn't want that? If you follow these simple tips, your skin will glow and your makeup will professionally done. Warning: Your friends may start to ask you for beauty tips.
