Psoriasis is a skin condition that creates dry and itchy patches on a person's body. It is considered to be a "chronic inflammatory disease" that millions of people in the United States are living with. A new study suggests that the inflammation it causes is the key piece to pay attention to when it comes to relieving symptoms. Researchers set out to implement the anti-inflammatory Mediterranean diet as a way to reduce the symptoms and severity of psoriasis. 

The Mediterranean diet is based on healthy fats and fresh fruits and vegetables which contain antioxidants -- both of these diet elements are believed to contribute to giving the diet anti-inflammatory properties. While more research needs to be done, people with psoriasis in the study showed reduced symptoms on the diet.
