How to Keep Your Baby Safe: Your Baby Crib Safety Checklist

Follow these six safety guidelines to keep your baby safe and ensure an injury-free environment.

Infant crib bumpers and liners are popular products in baby stores and shopping websites and they’re marketed as protective padding to prevent babies from getting stuck or falling between crib openings or slats. Lined with soft fabric and filled with stuffing, they seem like a smart choice for parents, but these harmless-looking products actually pose a serious safety concern and death risk for newborns and babies who can suffer injuries or suffocate by choking on bumper ties or getting stuck in the tight spaces between bumpers, toys, and cribs. Older babies can also use the bumper to climb out of a baby crib and suffer a serious or fatal fall as well.
