Deepak Chopra and Dr. Rudy Tanzi have a plan to help improve your immune system. Immunity is an important aspect of health that cannot be taken for granted; drugs simply can't be developed as fast as viruses are changing, and all of the body's systems can be improved by taking extra interest in promoting your immunity.

Here are a few lifestyle changes you can make today to strengthen your immunity.

1. Customize Your Coffee 

Coffee sometimes gets a bad rap, but it's actually a superstar when it comes to fighting inflammation. It contians polyphenols, which help your body maintain a healthy metabolic function — therefore helping to process everything that comes into your body and preventing inflammation. Chronic inflammation can wear down your immune system.

There's no need to eliminate coffee from your diet, just watch what you put into it. Instead of loading it with cream and sugar, add another ingredient that can sweeten it while also adding to its immunity-strengthening effects. Dark chocolate can do the trick by giving it a chocolatey taste and offering further antioxidant properties. Cinnamon and cloves can treat an upset stomach, nausea, and mouth or throat inflammation and you only need a bit to get a rich and pleasant flavor in your coffee.

2. Synchronize Your Biorhythm 

You have to get your body into a certain routine in order to have strong immunity. What you do during the day greatly impacts what happens when you go to sleep at night. If you sit all day and get little to no movement, it can prevent you from being able to sleep at night. Then you can get caught in a vicious cycle of being tired the next day, having low energy, and feeling unmotivated to accomplish daily tasks. There are a few steps you can take every day to keep your biorhythm properly synced:

Stand up for a few minutes each hour, which will keep your muscle tone intact and get your blood flowing.

Walk around the block. This will serve as a baseline for activity. It doesn't matter where you're going, just get moving. Exercise helps remove the plaque in the brain that causes Alzheimer's and it also helps to replenish new nerve cells in the brain.

Rest your body and mind. Turn off what Chopra and Dr. Tanzi call your "default mode," which is what keeps you going through the day. When you turn this off, it gives your mind a chance to rest and restore internal balance. Set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself to take some time to remove yourself from the present moment.

Make sleep a priority. Having a consistent sleep schedule is key to keeping your biorhythm on track. When you sleep, it allows your brain to rid itself of built-up toxins that are associated with Alzheimer's disease. During deep sleep, we also consolidate what we learned all day. Without the proper hours of sleep, both our brain and body can undergo damage.

3. Try the Time Capsule Experiment

A study has found that when participants reminisced about happy moments from their past, they were able to live like they were 20 years younger. The findings show that you can actually keep your mind and body younger all by changing how you think, which can improve your mental abilities, flexibility, and eyesight. Try doing your own "time capsule" experiment at home by imagining how you were when you were 16 and see how it makes you feel. Chopra says that changing your mentality can help you gain more energy, live an active, healthier lifestyle, and boost your immunity. So don't let your chronological age hold you back.
