Oral Fibroma

The small, raised bump on the side of this tongue is an oral fibroma, or an overgrowth of soft tissue. They are often caused by repeated trauma to the lips, inside of the cheeks or tongue, and grow over weeks to years. They are benign and often have no symptoms, but any unusual bump or patch in the mouth always needs to be examined by a dentist or doctor to make sure that it isn't cancerous.
