YOU Can Do It!

Why do we constantly discourage ourselves? We convince ourselves that we cannot lose weight and get healthy. We tell ourselves that we cannot afford to go to a gym and definitely cannot afford a trainer. We don’t know where to begin and how to conquer the weight loss that confronts us like climbing Mt. Everest. What is the first step? We get comfortable with just the thought of losing weight.

I understand these thoughts and have used all these excuses before. The truth is that YOU can lose weight and have a healthy waist line. It’s not an unattainable dream. What are you waiting for? Oh, you’re probably waiting for me to unleash the big secret, right? Sorry to disappoint you but there is no secret!

The key to attaining a healthy lifestyle is hard work, a good support team, and good food choices. That’s it! Seriously, I kid you not! Throughout my journey there have been no gimmicks or quick fixes. I get in my daily 10, 000 steps. I work out three times a week. I do aerobics once a week. I eat whole grain foods and lean meats, and I lean on my support system when I am feeling weak. Sound hard or unattainable?

If you battle with any of the above excuses, have no fear! I can offer you some solutions.

Excuse: I just can’t lose weight!

Solution: A negative attitude will surely prove this to be true. You have to adjust your attitude and really be willing to put in the work. Think positive! Take baby steps. I don’t remember waking up one morning and seeing myself 60 pounds heavier, and the weight surely has not come off over night. It’s important to remember that no matter how many pounds you would love to shed, it will take time.

Excuse: I can’t afford a gym or a trainer!

Solution: I know gyms today are more like elite clubs that require you to take out a second mortgage in order to be a member, and trainer costs can be just as expensive. But I promise you there are gyms and trainers out there that are affordable. You just have to do your research and shop around. Let’s be honest, not everyone can afford to join a gym; however, walking is free! The key is to keep it moving, put on those sneakers and walk. If you are feeling a little like Forrest Gump, take to running, or just dance to a groove while cooking or cleaning.

How do I even get started? There are more diet books out there then the amount of shoes in Imelda Marcos’s closet! I can understand how this can be overwhelming. Incorrect dieting can lead to nauseating twists, dips, and as many ups and downs as a roller coaster ride. The key is to change your lifestyle. Change the way you eat, change your taste buds, change the way you think about food. If you are looking to get a healthy waist line, come on and join the rest of us that have already experienced success – you’re already on the right track because you are here on the Dr. Oz website. Why not take a look at the Ultimate Diet Challenge and make the decision to let today be the day?

7 Essential Items to Have for a Pandemic Date, According to a Relationship Expert

Celebrity divorce attorney and relationship expert Vikki Ziegler says you should treat COVID-19 like an STD.

Just when we thought relationships and dating could not get any more complicated, the pandemic took this matter to a whole new level. Celebrity divorce attorney and relationship expert, Vikki Ziegler receives an abundance of questions about this exact topic, every single day. Her fans and followers message her via her social media channels, in the hopes of finding the right way to safely date during these times. So, if this topic has crossed your mind, rest assured you are not alone.

For those who used to "swipe left and right," on the regular, Vikki recommends slowing down for the time being, no matter what type of antibacterial wipes are being used between your swipes. Serial dating during COVID-19 can be dangerous and also very selfish at the same time. This might be a good time to either take a break from dating altogether, or invest more time in one relationship and being monogamous, at least for right now. "Everyone should treat COVID-19 as they do an STD, while dating and practice safe EVERYTHING, even beyond just intimacy," says Ziegler. "This will simplify the process and make the do's and don'ts much less complex."

She recommends that new partners keep the dating virtual prior to both being tested and or having the vaccine. "Screendating" can still be both fun and safe at the same time. She suggests that you still wear your favorite new dress, get that fresh haircut or blowout and act as though you are still going out, even if the date is happening in the privacy of your own home. She has suggested some ideas such as virtual movie nights, happy hours, cooking classes, and the most obvious, the at-home and virtual dining date. This would entail both partners ordering food to each of their respective homes, but using the same menu as if they were dining in person.
