Find out which foods are secretly fattening.
We all know that ice cream, cookies, and cake are major diet-offenders, but as it turns out there are tons of healthy foods that can also cause your scale not to budge. While some foods are nutritious on their own, when portion sizes get out of whack and too many toppings get added, a normally sensible meal can quickly turn ugly. Here are six healthy foods that may be wrecking your diet without you realizing it.
Whole Wheat Wrap
Since bread has been demonized by health experts, whole wheat wraps are often the alternative that people reach for when they crave carbs. Since the wrap is thinner than a slice of bread it’s assumed that it has fewer calories and carbs. In reality, two slices of wheat bread have 25 grams of carbs and only a 40 square inch surface to add dressings and spreads. A wrap has 31 grams of carbs and 78 square inches, making it easy to tack on extra mayo and other toppings. Ditch the wraps next time you make a sandwich and try using one slice of whole wheat bread to eat it open-face style instead.
