It’s that time of year – the time of lots of parties and the overeating that comes along with it. While the holidays can be an exciting time to see family and friends and have some fun, they can also cause a lot of stress for fear of gaining weight. Use these tips from Dr. Oz’s trusted experts to arm yourself with the hourly tools needed to make sure you get through each party this season without added guilt.
Make a pact to be mindful tonight. Kirkpatrick says that “Dining in a group causes the average person to eat about 40 percent more calories than he or she normally would eat alone.” In order to avoid this she suggests keeping a mental checklist of how much you’re consuming so you know when to stop eating. Packing gum in your purse is another technique she recommends: “Chew a piece of gum after you’ve had an appropriate serving of food to avoid going back for a second helping.”
