Sweet Potato Chips or Apple Chips

The microwave is amazing at drawing out moisture, which means you can get that straight-from-the-bag crunch we all want in a chip. Cut some apples or sweet potatoes as thinly as possible. Place on top of parchment paper on a plate. Sprinkle with the spices or the salt, and microwave for 2 minutes. Turn the chips over and then microwave for an additional minute. Check the chips as you go -- for thin chips, it should take anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes to crisp up. If you see the chips browning a bit, that's good. But be careful and only cook in 30-second intervals after that, because you don't want them to burn.
