2 Healthy Swaps for Fried Chicken Coating

Sometimes you just need some good crunch! If you're craving fried chicken but don't want to overdo it with the calories, there are ways to cheat the dish. Try using alternative coatings like crunchy chickpeas or instant ramen to get the same crunch without sacrificing flavor or indulgence.

Crunchy Chickpea Snacks

These little snacks are a great alternative to give your protein some crunch. Plus, it's cheap and quick! Chickpea snacks can have up to 6 grams of fiber, and they let you get creative with flavor: garlic, honey mustard or even buffalo sauce!

Try making crispy chickpea buffalo chicken. In a bowl, combine sour cream, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and salt. In a plastic bag, crush the chickpeas so that they're crumbly but not super fine. Pour that into a bowl. Then dredge the chicken heavily in the hot sauce mix and then into the chickpea crunch! Place the chicken on a sheet pan lined with parchment and put it in the oven for 20-25 minutes.
